Chae'Rah (Chay-Rah)
Height: 12-13hh Sub-specie: Bat-Winged rah (Type of Seih) Colours: Bio-luminescence to see each other at night-time. Feet: Small and agile, long claws Friends with: Seih Trades with: Almost all Wings: Bat-like Flying style: Fast and agile Location: Underground caverns near most Seih settlements for easy trade. Origins unknown, suspected Deity blessing from before the War. They have wings so loosely related to Seih, but how they got bat-wings is a closely guarded secret. These are small bat-like 'Rah, With leathery and scaley skin, sometimes with very short dense fur. Except for Spikey hair on the top of their head, hips and tail. They can handle extreme heat very well, they are among the few peoples that actually thrive in the heat, making them perfect allies for errands during the dangerous burn-time season. With superb sense of hearing and smell, they can see moderately well, but not well enough to not need the brightly coloured markings they have- that they use to signal each other in the dark. They live among elaborate tunnels/cave systems, and thus are bio-luminescent. Their underground settlements with homes carved into the rock faces, are usually near water-lines, and pockets of belowground forest/ecosystems. Their favorite thing to do is collect and trade in precious gems and crystals with each other and other Rah, as these crystals help light the various City mounds and dwellings. Which they gather during the more milder in-between seasons and put into storage pockets for trading. Food: Chae regularly hunt at night-time, looking for fallen insects, fruits and berries, as well as flowers to eat. During the deadly Cold-time season, they will have fattened up on food before the cold sets in. They will then live of their fat reserves during the winter months. To conserve energy these warm-blooded mammals will drop their body temperature from around 34ºC to between 7ºC and 10ºC. Jewellery: The shells of insects eaten are usually collected, placed in tree-sap to harden, and then turned into jewellery pieces. They favour metallic, iridescent, and brightly hued shells, most often worn as elaborate layered necklaces. Offspring: They are born with no fur but instead have fine, downy hair. About the pets: They breed and cultivate the Wyverns, small dragon-like pets. The wyverns live in the smaller tunnels they dig out which the larger 'Rah use as windows and air vents. They also place the crystals at varying places, that reflects light down into the mound. They like to dig and burrow, are friendly, fast and can be taught different tasks. More Info to come! |
