They co-exist together, with the Euh commonly as Teachers, and Protectors/Guards for the villages.
Ovis type
With rounded profiles, stockier body with thicker-heavier wool, and rounded almost rabbit-like ear tips. Short fur on underbelly/face/limbs (Think Border Lestchire sheep) Shorter tails than most 'Rah, there is longish fur at tail base and tail tip. Ovis can have any type of horns found on Sheep and Goats. Their hair is a type of fleece/wool and varies from tight wool to long and wavy angora. Hair styles/trims vary. (Not to be mistaken for Quinu or Binu) |
Euh type
With a straighter profile, larger eyes, Fuzzier shorter ears, Longer neck leaner body, Lighter-thinner fleece, tend to have shaved midriff/torsos. Short fur on underbelly/face/limbs. They have curly longish-haired tails, but with the tail-bone being half as long as most 'Rah. (Think Llama) This 'Rah type does not grow horns |
Using self-grown wool/fleece for yarn used in knitted, crochet, and woven clothing and blankets. Felted fleece is used in making dolls and designs onto crochet blankets. Can also turn most hairs/fibers into yarn; Herdbeasts, Alac-fluff, Plant fibers. Using a foot/hoof operated spinning wheel, they turn the wools and fleeces into yarn, strings, and threads. No fleece grows on underbelly or limbs, shorter growth on chest. Short fur on face, neck, ears, limbs, tail. Fleece on the head and top-line (neck to spine) grows the longest. Undercuts are commonly used along neckline, to separate mane/hair from body fleece. The only wool/fleece used for yarn, is on the body. Tails can either be shaved, trimmed, corded or long, it's up to personal preference. Fleece types can vary, from thicker-heavier(Wool), to thinner-lighter (Mohair). They take the utmost care of their fleece as its a status symbol, and good hygiene means good sales/trade of their wool. Usually with most 'Rah peoples, cutting the head-hair is Taboo or a sign of mourning/loss, this is not the cake with the Louk. Some Louk'Rah might prefer a shorter hair style for easier maintenance. Though any cut head-hair is used only for personal items among family or loved ones, often when one passes only close loved ones may keep a lock of hair from the deceased. Shoulder fleece can sometimes have designs clipped into them. As the stomach fur is naturally short, there are sometimes beads and chains dangled over the midriff. Their wool coats are quite warm, so they don't wear their own wool items unless in the colder seasons, usually they opt for lighter fabrics like satin from silk-tree fiber. Neck-wool is usually adorned in jewellery, beads and crystals, tied into the wool. Necklaces can get caught/tangled easily, so necklaces if worn, are usually only on the bare/shorter fur portion of the neck. Ears, face, and tail are adorned with jewellery like most 'Rah. They are amazing body-clippers, and many 'Rah seek out their shops for stunning decorative body-fur clips. Some specialize in animals only, or 'Rah only. Lumbarbeasts often get fancy clips, and herdbeasts for show. They can also do moderate carpentry to create the wooden spools and spinning wheels, and tables for their creations. Usually working with Metalurgy 'Rahs for screws/nails, and sewing needles etc. (The Master carpenters are the Quinu'Rah) Extremely social 'Rah, a pleasure to interact with at Local shops and markets. Some who do not choose the Weaving or Body clip trades, often go into organizational roles like celebrations, for Joinings, Births, and even deaths. They are also seen in such avenues as teaching, Scribing, and learning for young 'Rah. The Solitary few go into meteorology, and Celestial cartography. They sell their wool-clips to local makers, or trade for supplies, then back to being a hermit. |
