The Great War
It was the end of everything, and the beginning....
Oh we have a story to tell!
Oh we have a story to tell!
The Great War
No one knew exactly how it started, a few scuffles here, skirmishes there. Nomadic generals damaged by the weather, with addled brains, fighting all sides without reason except known to them. Whispering hallucinations, and the soldiers spreading them as truths.
Rah were fighting amongst themselves for territory, because of miss-information and underground lies to keep the pot stirring so that crime could flourish.
Many lives were lost, too many, innocent lives.
All four kings were to meet in one final battle, to whom the last one standing would be the victor.
Then the Deities intervened -
Finally showed themselves in true form
Each Rah species saw them as like themselves, the Flying the walking, the hibernating all saw them at once.
Grand sacred creatures of the Ground, Fire, Sea, and Sky.
They called a ceasefire, and a peace treaty was agreed upon, along with this day being noted as to be honored and remembered.
All would mourn their lost loved ones together as one, lay down weapons and embrace as kin. Awed by the Deities, and tired of being in constant battle fatigue, they accepted, relieved for the respite and final end.
It became an annual celebration.
Rahs give offerings to the Deities, as well as to family and friends.
Since the deities granted them life by stopping the war, and they were grateful to be able to spend time with each other again without fear.
Kingdoms send each other peace treaty gifts as well, something that is their main trading element, enough to spread out to the population of those kingdoms.
Gift-giving represented the establishing of peace treaty trade routes.
In honor of those fallen in war, the Deities created a Tree with large blue flowers, that only blooms once a year, at the time of remembrance.
As it comes closer to the time, these flowers flash faintly like the beats of a heart. When plucked, the flower glows solidly, with sparkles on the tips of the petals.
Each Rah lets go of these Glowing flowers over the Breath falls. A waterfall by a cliff edge, where the hot desert air meets the cold Ocean air, causing an updraft. It carries the flowers like lanterns up into the sky like stars, where they pulsate like heartbeats again. The Deities absorb these flowers back into the either, knowing the Rah still honor the tradition, and promise for no more war.
Deity intervention day starts a few days prior to Time of remembrance that honors those fallen in the War.
Then it proceeds into the Peace treaty gift-giving day.
