Seasons
Cold-time Harsh snap winter (underground living time)
Between (nice pleasant almost humid weather but not muggy) (Surface living time)
Burn-time Harsh crisping summer (underground living time)
Between (nice pleasant moving more to cooler weather) (Surface living time)
Burn-time appears like a desert hot and burning. It can be deadly for those unprepared.
cold-time appears like endless cold and snow. It can be deadly for those unprepared.
between-time starts and ends gradually getting between those extreme temperatures.
The best Between-time is very tropical, humid but in a very pleasant way compared to the other two climate-times.
It is warm with nice cool breezes here and there, very humid in the thick of forests.
It is the best weather and makes crops grow fast and is ready to begin harvesting at halfway through between-time.
Burn-time transition; (in between)
Weather slowly cools and there is heavy rain, it heats up a bit and gets humid as it turns to between time.
Crops begin to grow and flourish in numbers.
The Shi'Rah begin to eat this, finally able to stop eating stored foods (usually dried things, flour for bread etc)
Then at mid-way through between-time the vines are so bountiful that they only need eat a quarter, the rest is harvested and begun to be dried in special huts below-ground)
All these stores of food dry more as the weather heats up.
Everything is taken into deep cellars below each home (everyone has their own crops, and the forests are bountiful) as it gets hotter.
Blocks of Ice are Stored deep below-ground to help them keep cool during burn-time, holes that connect to the lower Ice levels vent upwards to homes in burn-time.
Cold-time lasts around 3 months. then it gradually warms up to between-time again, and the humidity is repeated, until it gradually gets hotter then too hot to stay out anymore. And burn-time kicks in (and the foods have been gathered and easily pre-dried before taking below ground before it is burnt up).
During cold-time Combining the Mound's people all below ground, it creates a nice comfortable heat, and their air-vents are kept free of ice and snow so that fresh air still circulates.
Homes have fireplaces lined with saltstone to prevent anything catching alight.
Vent holes connect along to a section of earth that has moving Magma, a filtration system purifies the warm air as it brings it to the homes.
These Ice and heat vents are open and closed as needed for the seasons, and normal air vents (for breathing oxygen) are kept open.
Underground gardens are maintained with moss, trees and flowers, as well as kelp/seaweed for Oxygen production.
Water is diverted from underground rivers/streams to these gardens and filtered naturally with pond/water plants and Goldfish/Carp.
Glowing Algae production is used as well as Crystals for lighting. The Algae is harvested from the shores above ground, and trade of them for cities/villages is needed.
During between-time there are celebrations, and displayed are many long gorgeous brightly coloured flags
* one holds the symbol of the reigning king or queen
* others represent the season colour of in-between
* Some represent the Deities
