Iora's twin Islands of Cer'astu and Y'tain are the main city hubs. Iora (Eye-or-ah) As well as a few Island settlements around the boarder of the main continent of Re'tu and Cer'tu Isles Horn types examples on Pinterest: www.pinterest.nz/rosemoonfeath… The Quinu'Rah are elusive sea-fairing people, who have four sets of cranial horns, and a fifth center horn on their forehead. Closely related to the Binu'Rah who have only center horns, they are also related to the hornless and wingless Daid'Rah and Oryn'Rah. They live in a cluster of 30 Islands that requires boat transportation between them. Chri'Naph and Quinu'Rah tolerate each other as mutual respect of commanders of the seas in different ways. Their homes tend to be elaborately carved wood and woven foliage above ground and closer to forestland, so less affected by harsh cold and burn times on the main continent. They are master carpenters and highly sought after for custom furniture. They are also stunning singers, and musicians, which they use to their advantage when abroad. Tools on a larger scale are made from hydro power, harnessing the heavy rivers, with overshoot vertical water wheels, and whirlpool turbines. Used for forge bellows, to raise water for irrigation, flour mills, Apprenticeships: Carpentry, arborists, metallurgy, Gardeners. Celestial navigation, also known as astronavigation (using the stars as maps at sea). They make beautiful sailing boats, with an art nouveau flair, delicately carved wood in swirls and curves. A wonder to behold, and swift as the wind. |
History:
Sea fairing people, they ventured out on ships and populated neighboring islands and called them their home. It wasn't long before they were journeying longer distances and settling on more remote islands and land-spits on the boarder of the larger continent.
They encountered other 'Rah peoples and set up routes to attend the marketplaces for trade, mostly in carpentry which was their main skill and forte.
In the far distant past a long-distance crew ended up angering a Water Deity and being punished on the far south of the continent, in a remote land spit.
Read about the Binu-Rah for the full history of the ill fated crew, and how they are related.
Originally Neutral during the great war, and easy to buy for taking sides per individual for assassin and reconnaissance work, they have had to regain trust from other 'Rah over time to make up for their past. Excellent spies, they are quiet and light on their feet, sure-sighted and keen of ear.
However their true strengths lay in seafaring and sailboat voyaging, as well as superb abilities in carpentry.
